Singlespeed Aficionado Approved

Best in class stiffness to weight ratio and power transfer that makes the LES SL a race weapon also exists in the DNA of the LES Singlespeed. Powering up the steeps is efficient and rock solid. And the LES Singlespeed has that legendary Pivot ride quality and compliance that the LES line is known for – the kind that saves energy over the long haul and keeps the bike planted, quiet, and predictable over all surfaces.

Uncompromising Singlespeed Performance

The Firebird 29 has a lot to live up to. On one hand, it needs to withstand repeated pummelings at bike parks and on the toughest trails. It has to be bomb proof. On the other hand, it also needs to be incredibly light—this bike is meant to give you an edge on the climbs. Since a 29er wheelset inherently packs more grams than the same wheelset in a smaller, 27.5 diameter, we knew there couldn‘t be any fat on the Firebird 29 frame. So, we made it both bomb proof and lean. Thanks to our own hollow-core, high-compression carbon molding process and an exacting combination of composite materials and shapes, we are able to deliver an ultra-light frame that meets the same stringent testing requirements for strength and stiffness as our World Cup downhill bike. Firebird frames weigh in at a mere 7 pounds (3.2kg) while complete bikes tip the scales at sub-30 pounds(13.5kg).

Which size bike should I purchase?
To ensure the best sizing, we recommend that you visit your local Pivot dealer to get a professional fit and refer to our geometry chart to check your measurements. However, we can provide a rough guideline:

Small: 5'3" – 5’8” (160 cm - 172.7 cm)

Medium: 5'8” – 5’11” (172.7 cm - 180.3 cm)

Large: 5’11”– 6’1” (180.3 cm - 185.4 cm)

X-Large: 6'1" (185.4 cm )
Can I use a dropper post with this frame?
Yes, internally routed dropper posts are compatible with the LES Singlespeed.
What dropper post length should I use?
There are limitations that each dropper post has for each frame size based on the rider’s saddle height, so it is important to check the fit before choosing the travel and model of dropper post for your bike. Use the Dropper Fit Guide under the Tech Specs section to help identify the right post length.
What is the size of the seatpost?
What is the hub/wheel spacing?
The LES Singlespeed uses Boost 148mm x 12mm hub/wheel spacing.
What is the seat tube insertion depth on the LES Singlespeed?
S - 215mm

M - 265mm

L - 295mm

XL - 340mm

*Please check seat post measurements carefully before installing the post.
Can you set up the LES Singlespeed frame with a derailleur and gears?
Yes, this frame can run a traditional geared setup. In addition to a shifter, rear derailleur, cassette and longer chain, you will need a derailleur hanger and cable port caps for the shift cable. Both items can be purchased through your authorized Pivot Dealer.
What front derailleur is compatible with the LES Singlespeed frame?
The LES Singlespeed frame can use an e-type side-swing style front derailleur - Shimano produces the e-type side-swing front derailleur in Deore
How wide of a tire and what size wheels can I run on the LES Singlespeed?
We recommend tires up to 2.3” wide with (up to) 28mm maximum inner width rims on 29” wheels for the LES Singlespeed. Rim width and tire manufacture sizing call outs and tire inconsistency can result in huge difference among both tire brands and individual tires. We suggest you check the fit with your chosen rim and tire combination to make sure it has proper clearance before riding
What wheel sizes are compatible?
The LES Singlespeed is compatible with 29” wheels and 27.5” wheels with Plus sized tires up to 2.8”
What is the thread pitch on the rear axle?
Pivot uses a 1.5 thread pitch on the rear thru axle.
What cranks will the LES Singlespeed accept?
The LES Singlespeed will accept all cranks designed for the BOOST system and compatible with a Press Fit 92mm bottom bracket. BOOST system means that the rear hub spacing is 148mm and the chain-rings have (approximately) a 52mm chainline.
Can I use a non-Boost crankset?
You can use non-Boost Race Face Next SL 1x cranks, Shimano XT and XTR 11 speed 1x11 cranks (with 30t or 32t).
What bottom bracket will work with my bike?
The LES Singlespeed uses a Pressfit BB92 (PF92) bottom bracket. All major crank manufacturers and many aftermarket companies make PF92 bottom brackets. However, if you are running a crank with a 30mm diameter spindle (like Race face) we highly recommend using a bottom bracket with a double row bearing design such as our Pivot Enduro BB.
What is the narrowest Q-Factor crank I can run?
What is the maximum size chain ring I can run?
What travel fork can I use on my LES Singlespeed?
The LES Singlespeed was designed for 100mm to 130mm fork travel. 130mm is the maximum travel length to be used on the LES Singlespeed. We use the new FOX 32 Step Cast 100mm fork in all our complete bike builds. This fork is a 29” race-specific fork designed for 29” wheels with up to 2.3” tires and is NOT compatible with 27.5 tires.
What is the fork offset on the LES Singlespeed?
The Fox 32 100mm Stepcast we spec on all the standard builds has a 44mm offset.
What headset do I need for the LES Singlespeed?
For the LES Singlespeed, we use an integrated style headset. The upper bearing measures 1-1/8" with 45°/45° ACB
What is the largest rotor I can fit?
Do I need a rear brake adapter?
No rear brake adapter is needed for a 160mm rotor. If you would like to put a 180mm rotor on, you will need a direct mount post-to-post adapter.
What are the torque specs?
A detailed PDF of the torque specs can be found in the Tech Specs section.
How much does it weigh?
A size medium LES Singlespeed frame weighs just 2.96 lbs (1345.6 g). Pivot bicycles are among the lightest available, but the weight is only one of many factors that make a great bicycle. Other aspects such as frame stiffness, strength, durability, and ride quality are just as important as weight to our engineers when designing our Hollow Core Carbon and aluminum frames. Instead of comparing grams online, we suggest you visit your local Pivot dealer and see our attention to detail, smart, high-value spec, and class-leading features. Bring a scale if you’d like but take just one demo ride and you’ll feel why Pivot Cycles are the most well-rounded, highest performing bicycles on the market and in many cases, yes, it’s the lightest as well.
